As a New Zealander its impossible to go out to a pub for a drink without finding that someone involved in the Lord of the Rings is drinking at the next table because they are EVERYWHERE. A group called the Dwarf Council (though dwarfs they are not!) who have to remain anonymous and are more publicly known as my drinking buddies, seem to think that Mr P. Jackson is working on 3 different endings for the final movie and he wants to see how they look before deciding which one to use, and rumour has it that Jackson is incorporating one of Tolkien's alternative endings into one of the scripts. The alternative ending will work because of the current popularity of the movies "Gladiator" and "The Patriot."

The Hobbits of the Shire get fed up with being messed around by ringwraiths and the lack of effective government in Gondor etc. They form a people's army and march on both Gondor and Mordor, planting thousands of trees as they go. After conquering Middle Earth King Frodo sends Sauron to tend the gardens of Rivendell and to learn to walk hand in hand with Hobbits, after a period of re-education of course. The Elves, on the other hand, try to reestablish their imperialist empire so the Hobbits wipe them off the map.
