I recently received a tip-off from "Elmtree", a regular of the Tolkien
On-Line message boards. With all the recent hooh-hah over that
picture this sounds very plausible.
I have good information that although the Scouring of
the Shire chapter has
not completely been cut, it's been redone and is now called "The
Skewering in
the Shire."
